As the series of fouls persisted, Mexican Jorge Sanchez was the first player to receive a yellow card in the game. Both teams tied without scoring as the referee blew the halftime whistle.
As the second half began, nothing changed. missed field goal attempts, numerous corner kicks, and an endless stream of fouls. As if both sides were competing to commit the most fouls throughout this game, the fouls persisted throughout the second half. When H. Moreno fouled Polich captain Robert Lewandowski in the 56th minute, the foul was reviewed, and Poland was given a penalty, a potential opportunity finally knocked on the Polish door.
Lewandowski raced forward to take a shot, which the Mexican goaltender Ochoa heroically parried away from the Mexican players and fans. Ochoa shown his attention, quickness, and ability to block a penalty.
Both teams had consecutive tries to score in the second half. Every minute or so, it appeared as though a shot was being launched toward the goals. Nevertheless, despite both tries, the final score after 90 minutes remained 0-0. The referee blew the whistle for eight minutes of extra time, which on occasion is just enough to net the crucial goal. That was not the case today, however, as the match ended in a 0-0 draw with no goals being scored at the 98th minute.
