In one of the most epic comeback performances in the match, Cameroon fought back valiantly in the second half of Match 29 against Serbia after trailing behind by 1-3 to score two quick goals in the second half to level the score and held the Serbians to a draw in a fighting finish at the Al Janoub Stadium.
Both Cameroon and Serbia were desperate for a win as they both had lost their respective Group G opening matches before. While Cameroon lost 1-0 to Switzerland, Serbia lost 2-0 to the five times world champion Brazil. So a win was a necessity for both teams for standing any hopes of making it to the Round of 16, with defending champions France have already qualified for the same earlier in the day.
In a 6 goal epic with both sides scoring three goals each, Cameroon opened the score count with the opening goal in the 29th minute, which was followed by two quick goals by the Serbians during extra time of the first half and then the third one just 8 minutes into the second half. This put Cameroon trailing 1-3 behind the Serbs.
However, a quick resurgence from Cameroon ensured that they narrow the gap and then quickly equalize to prevent themselves from facing imminent defeat. Their second goal was scored during the 63rd minute, which was followed by the equalizer in the 66th minute of the match, taking the scorecard to 3-3. The match continued into 7 minutes of extra time, but it did not yield any result and both teams ended the match with three goals each.
